GLOBE, Partners, to Host Pre-COP30 Parliamentary Forum at RCAW

GLOBE Legislators, Focal Point of the informal UNFCCC Parliamentary Group, will be convening a Pre-COP30 Parliamentary Forum at the Municipal Chamber of Rio (Câmara Municipal), Praça Floriano – Centro, Rio de Janeiro, on 27 August, 2025, during the inaugural Rio Climate Action Week (RCAW).

The event which builds on GLOBE’s Parliamentary Roundtable on NDCs which took place in Berlin, Germany on 10 June, 2025, on the eve of the Global NDCs Conference, seeks to advance parliamentary engagement on climate action, ahead of COP30 in Belém, Brazil. 

Organised by GLOBE Legislators, in partnership with Plataforma CIPÓ, Clima de Política, OPCC, and other leading regional networks and hosted by the Municipal Chamber of Rio (Câmara Municipal), the hybrid forum will bring together Members of Parliament from across the world in a discussion on the critical role of parliaments in advancing climate action.

Highlights will include launch and presentations on: GLOBE Climate Laws Briefing Notes; Portuguese version of Parliamentarians’ Guide to Climate Change which was co-created by GLOBE and the University of Exeter; updated report on Parliamentary Engagement in NDCs 3.0: a Global Study; Parliamentary Guide to Articles 6 and Carbon Markets; etc. It will also feature conversations on NDCs 3.0 and NextGen Climate Laws; the ICJ Ruling on Climate Change; and Parliamentarians as a Constituency at the UNFCCC.

At RCAW, GLOBE will also be co-hosting the Governance Hub at the  Municipal Chamber of Rio (Câmara Municipal) in partnership with the Municipal Chamber of Rio. The hub will be one of RCAW’s central content pillars alongside the Climate & Fashion, Finance, Geopolitics, Climate Policy & International Relations, Oceans & Water, Private Sector,SME, and Sustainable Agriculture and Food hubs.
