The Nigeria Climate Investment Summit (NCIS) was one of London Climate Action Week’s (LCAW) official Flagship events in 2026. With more than 1300 events taking place during LCAW 2026, this honour is given to only a select few high-level events.

Organised by LCAW founding partner, GLOBE Legislators, in collaboration with SOStainability, and with support from leading global institutions and partners including the Commonwealth Secretariat, United Nations SE4ALL, the City of London Company of Fuellers, the NCIS took place at the prestigious Mansion House, City of London on Tuesday 23rd June.

ABOUT NCIS

As Nigeria seeks to enhance climate ambition while advancing sustainable economic growth, NCIS strategically aligns with Nigeria’s preparation to implement its third generation Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0), and serves as a platform to mobilise the partnerships and technical expertise required to translate Nigeria’s NDC 3.0 commitments into bankable projects and measurable outcomes.

NCIS2026 brought together senior Nigerian officials, legislators, governors, regulators, investors, development finance institutions, businesses, and diaspora capital networks to advance practical investment pathways for Nigeria’s low-carbon transition.

The summit highlighted Nigeria’s climate policy progress, emerging carbon market opportunities, and institutional ESG performance, while helping position the country as a destination for climate-aligned capital and sustainable investment.

The event featured a high-level plenary session, themed panel discussions, and networking sessions. Key themes included power, energy and renewables; climate finance and carbon markets; and the investment potential of Nigeria’s subnational.

Distinguished speakers and participants were: Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria; Rt. Hon. Sam Onuigbo, President of GLOBE Legislators; Damilola Ogunbiyi, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, CEO of Sustainable Energy for All; His Excellency Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor; Catriona Laing, Former UK High Commissioner to Nigeria, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General to Somalia; Pablo Vieira, Global Director, NDC Partnership Support Unit;  Suresh Yadav, Director for Climate Change, Ocean and Energy Directorate, Commonwealth Secretariat; Ashutosh Shastri, Master, The Worshipful Company of Fuellers, City of London; Trevor Hutchings, CEO, Renewable Energy Association (REA); Dr Tariye Gbadegesin, CEO, Climate Investment Funds, and many others.

Highlight of the summit was the announcement of Lagos Climate Action Week (LAGCAW) by the Governor of Lagos State, H.E. Babajide Sanwo-olu. LAGCAW will be co-convened by the Lagos State Government, London Climate Action Week, GLOBE Legislators, and SOStainability. This brings Lagos into the global community of Climate Action Week events held in London, New York, Sydney, Shanghai, Baku, and Rio.
