Visa

Participants with UNFCCC accreditation will be issued e-visas free of charge. Simply click on the visa link provided in your UNFCCC accreditation email, and apply. 

The visa will be ready in THREE (3) working days.

Newsflash

GLOBE has learnt – and had confirmed by the UNFCCC Secretariat – that the UNFCCC is allowing extended applications for accreditation (Blue Zone access) for UN-accredited Observer Organisations. 

The ORS is open for confirmation of participants until 10 November 2024 23:59 (CET).

Accommodation

Transportation 

COP29 delegates will have access to hundreds of COP29 branded taxis and over 400 buses to connect Heydar Aliyev International Airport with Transport Hubs in Baku. Delegates with acknowledgement letters or accreditation cards will have free shuttle buses between the airport and destinations. Shuttles will also provide direct transport to the conference venue near Koroghlu metro station, Baku’s main transport hub.

Transportation System features two main shuttle services– Airport Shuttles and Conference Shuttles– designed for seamless travel during the conference.

Airport Shuttles: available 24/7, these shuttles ensure continuous connectivity between Heydar Aliyev International Airport and key transport hubs. 

Services include:   

  • Dedicated Airport Shuttles 
  • Airport Express Public Shuttles 
  • 24/7 Dedicated Airport Taxis and Private Transfers

Conference shuttles will connect transport hubs with Baku Stadium and other key locations from 07:00 to 22:00, while dedicated buses will run between Koroghlu metro station and the stadium’s Blue Zone for easy access.

What electrical plug do I need in Azerbaijan?

Azerbaijan uses the Type F 2-pin plug. Type F electrical plugs used in Azerbaijan are manufactured to the CEE 7/4 and CEE 7/7 standards and is commonly referred to as a Schuko plug.

The line and neutral plug contacts for Azerbaijan Type F plugs are two round pins with a 4.8 millimeter diameter. Plug pins measure 19 millimeters long and are 19 millimeters apart from the pin centers.

Weather in Baku in November

The weather in Baku in November becomes cooler as winter approaches. The average daytime temperature ranges from 12-15°C , with cooler evenings dropping to around 8-10°C. Expect the famous Caspian winds over the city and bring an umbrella just in case of rain.

Money in Azerbaijan

The currency used in Azerbaijan is the Manat. Foreign exchange and bank facilities are available at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport upon arrival. It is advisable to take cash out/ exchange some foreign currency for Manat at the airport itself. Taxis will only take cash in local currency, so advisable to have some with you.

ATMs are widely available in Baku and cash can be taken out from the many banks and ATMs available. It is possible to pay directly by card / chip & pin, but also advisable to have some local currency in cash as not all small shops will accept card payments.
