GLOBE Study reveals legistators hold the key to tackling climate change

On 14 January 2013 GLOBE International presented the 3rd edition of the Climate Legislation Study  and formally launched the GLOBE Climate Legislation Initiative. The study, produced in partnership with LSE Grantham Research Institute, is a comprehensive audit of climate legislation.

Following the conclusion of the UN climate negotiations in Doha, the President of the Global Legislators Organisation, Rt Hon John Gummer, Lord Deben called called for a major focus on advancing national climate legislation in order to reach an international agreement in 2015.

In a high level address to 300 legislators participating in the 1st GLOBE World Summit of Legislators, UNFCCC Executive Secretary, Christiana Figueres, recognised the critical importance of advancing national climate change legislation to create the political conditions for an agreement in 2015.
