Deputy Ignacio Pichardo

Chair of the Water and Sanitation Committee of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, Former Governor of the State of Mexico, GLOBE Mexico

José Ignacio Pichardo Lechuga (born 8 September 1966) is a Mexican politician from the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). From 2009 to 2012 he served as Deputy of the LXI Legislature of the Mexican Congress representing the State of Mexico, and served as Chair of the Special Commission on Forests.

Subsequently he was elected to the legislature of the State of Mexico, and was re-elected to the federal Chamber of Deputies in 2015, where he currently serves as a Secretary to the Committee on Water Resources and Sanitation as well as a Member of the Committee on the Environment and Natural Resources.

Ignacio Pichardo was the President of GLOBE Mexico at the time when the Mexican Chamber of Deputies adopted Mexico's General Climate Law. He also advanced the Climate Change Law of the State of Mexico during his term as President of the Committee on Water Resources of the legislature of the State of Mexico.
